Le Voyage Routier

The first time i heard of this idea, it sounded a bit creepy.. a little foolish.. but at times you should put aside your Practical self and give it a shot.. Thats what I did..

The original plan was 500 Kms long bike trip along the Konkan Coast.. Through the dense Western Ghats which are quite dangerous to drive.. 3 days.. 2 nights.. and with summer at its worst... This was going to be one hell of an adventure...
10 people (Mind you from different places..) will gather @ Pune to start the trip on 29th April.

As per the plan we gathered in the afternoon... filled up the tanks with gas... Few of our fellow roadies brought a coconut... the plan was to break it before the trip starts (for a healthy and a prob free trip)... but accidently it fell down and broke by itself... (This was a bad sign to start with... but anyways... i never cared ) Finally... when everything was set...

Vrrroooom vrrrooom... get set and go.... And so it commenced..

The start was pretty good... actually the road was pretty good... so we were speeding down @ some 90Ks... but it was toooo HOT... thanks to nishant for bringing those Sun block creams... But even then we were in for some HEAVY Tanning... Anyways...
As we reached this placed called Mulshi.. some 30 kms from Pune... we already started feeling the battering HEAT...

After going some 40 kms more... We finally entered the western ghats...!! Dense mind you... very dense... Then we realised the ride was gonna be thrilling for sure... We were crossing mountain after mountain.... watchin those deeep valleys.... Goshh.. It was scary...

When we were all racing ahead smoothly... something happened which we didnt wanted to... but you cant beat fate... one of the bikes met with an accident.. it was just a skid.. so by gods grace no one was badly hurt.. and to add to that... another bike got punctured... we were in for a lot of delay... finally after 3 hours of struggle... we finally managed to get it fixed.. had to carry the bike in a truck to the nearest fixing garage...

we had to drive at night... but the sight was amazing... five bikes in line... cruising thru the ghats... we reached our first pit stop.. Harihareshwar.. the time was around 11pm... then we had to hunt for a Dorm for about 30 mins... finally we managed to get one.... after having the dinner... everyone dozed off with all time loud snoring...

Next day morning... the beautiful harihareshwar beach was for us to relish... ppl enjoyed a lot splashing and jumping and playing with the mud on the shore.... after the sun really started tanning us badly.. we headed back to the dorm... quickly got ready... and headed towards Murud...

This was a nice ride... without any hassels... the best part was... we reached a place from where we had to take our bikes on the BOAT from one shore to the opposite... it was amazing u know... the Boat was rocking with the heavy gush of wind... when we reached the other end we then headed for Murud... reaching there firstly checkd into a lodge... and quickly headed towards the BEach.....

Gosh what a beach it was... the most lovely beach of the Konkan coast line they say... and the evening time added to its beauty... people had poured into this place... was much more crowded than harihareshwar.... Yogi, Me and nishu went for a loong stroll along the coast... when the sun was set... we went in to a shop to get some beer... headed to the coast again... now this coool breeeze was ON ok.... we just sat there on the sand enjoying the beer and the snacks....
take my words there are not many things better than this... sitting with ur best pals... a breezy nite... a sea coast... talkin about the goood old days... getting nostalgic... laughing at silly things we did in past... amazingg feeling...

And with the dawn next day... we headed back to our origin... This time we had a real smooth rides... but after such a long drives for continuous 2 days... our buttucks were in real pain... and driving with that Pain... You can imagine... and if you cant... dont try to... :D
But after some time it was soo numb... we hardly felt it...
The return journey was a quick one... with lots of races ;)
Nishu was pumped up... we gave the bikes some hard time... racing around... and this time we didnt have any accidents or unlucky events... smoothly and safely we reached back... .

Aaah... with the pain in the ***... WE bid adeau to all the fellow roadies... and finally returned home... as predicted... we had a goood tanning and an amazing trip... and this story was narrated to our frens... Folks (who had absolutely no Idea about it.. :D)

Le VoyaGE ROUtier...!! :-)
